Hi Eva,

I listen to your show every week, I love it.  I have been wanting a new style for a while.  Although my stylist never seems to help. :(  Are all stylists that way?  Just looking for a suggestion.  I may find a picture of a style and show her and she says yes she can do it.  But to me honest, it does not look like it when done. I feel if the style won't work with my hair, I rather someone be honest and tell me.   Any suggestions?  Do I go to another stylist?  I am happy with my salon, it is reasonably priced, can't afford to go to a upscale salon.  I have been going to this gal for 1 year. She is great with color.   I want to LOVE my style not just coming home with the same old look.  I am 45, have brown hair, I get a color glaze every couple of months, which I am happy with, my hair has a bit of a wave, but over the years has gotten fine, I did have thicker hair when I was younger.  The length just hits my shoulder.  Thanks.  :)

Hi Linda,

I think it’s important to remember that while you should feel comfortable and friendly with your stylist- this is still a business and your hair and how you feel about it should come first. It sounds like you’re satisfied with her color work so I would suggest simply having a conversation with her about the styling. You can thank her for her service and creativity and just let her know you would like to try something new as far as your cut goes. Let her know you plan to continue seeing her for color. If you’re comfortable- I would talk to the manager or owner and inquire if they can recommend a different stylist that specializes in cutting, or ask your current stylist. Good luck!

Best wishes,
Eva
Thank you very much for your response. :)
