I am attaching a current picture for ideas of what to do with my haircut/color. Although my hair is thinning and fine, it is slightly thicker in the back.  Also, due to my hairloss, I have been advised not to lighten my hair.  I am 44.

Grateful,

Brooke

Hi Brooke,

I would only highlight your hair around the face and the part, not all over. The most important thing is that the colorist is experienced and conciencious enough to not overlap color or bleach, as that will most likely lead to hair breakage, especially for someone like yourself. If you don't mind traveling an hour, I have a good friend in West Bloomfield, MI who is a wonderful colorist, and I can even advise her on how to deal with your hair. Her name is Lynn and she works at the Lance Vincent Salon.

There are also products like Viviscal and Biotin that help to stimulate hair growth.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Eva...actually, I've been a client of Lynn's for about two years now :) I had heard you recommend her to someone else on your radio show. Lynn has been wonderful about improving the condition of my hair. And now that I'm open to changing my hairstyle, I wonder what you might suggest for me; I always value your opinion on anything beauty-related--Lynn has asked me to bring her pictures of styles I like when I see her at her new salon in Troy; any advice would be most appreciated!

Brooke :)

I actually like your current hairstyle and color very much. If I was to suggest anything, perhaps you can try a heavier side-swept bang, a few brighter pieces around the face, and maybe a bit more layering on the sides to add more lift (much not too much, because it looks like you have fine to medium hair and I wouldn't want to remove too much density). Hope this helps!

Best
