While most women are trying to cover the gray in their hair, I'm trying to play it up. I've had white streaks in my hair since I hit puberty. I also have a white eyebrow and eyelashes over my left eye. I would really like more silver in my hair, which is naturally medium brown.

I've asked several professionals if this is possible, only to be told that it isn't yet I see models/celebs with white blond hair. Is silver that much different? Is it possible?

Dear Lynn,

To acheive a pale gray/white highlight it has to be bleached past the yellow stage to white. Of course this can be dangerous if you are not in the hand of a skilled professional with experience coloring gray hair. A silver shade can be chosen to tone it and soften the highlights so they blend into the rest of your hair. Wella makes a color that is silver shade, a demi-permenant color that can act as a toner if left on the hair for a few minutes. The color is 8/81.
Where do you live? I might know of a salon in your area.

Best Wishes,

Eva
I live in Buffalo, NY and would love to find someone who could do this. I'm not overly concerned about damage because my hair is so healthy. I don't use any heat--I have "wash and wear" hair--and the only color I've used are Manic Panic to get a fun-colored sheen, never anything harsh.

Hi, I don't put anything permanent in my hair. What is a Manic Panic color?
